Call for Papers

Theme: Science, Technology and Humanities for Business and Economic Sustainability

OBJECTIVES

The summer 2014 International Conference of the Korea Distribution Science Association (KODISA) will be held in Seoul, South Korea, for July 9-12 (Wednesday - Saturday) 2014.

The conference is hosted jointly by KODISA and Shandong University of Political Science and Law of China. The conference aims 1) to share scholarship regarding issues of science, technology and humanities for business and economic sustainability, 2) to offer an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues from around the world so as to enable participants to exchange information and ideas on the topics, and 3) to get presented and published scholarly papers, research notes and case studies in the conference proceedings and an affiliated journal.

PROGRAM

The conference offers keynote addresses, formal paper symposia, case study presentations, special sessions, and industry leadership and public policy maker panel discussions as well as a doctoral research seminar. Academia, public policy makers, business leaders, consultants, and doctorate students can choose from a wide range of programs.

SUBMISSION

Manuscripts must be complete and ready for blind peer review. A work-in-progress paper also would be reviewed for presentation. All accepted full papers and work-in-progress papers would be included and published in the conference proceedings.

In addition, top 5% of the accepted full papers will be recognized with Best Paper Awards and each awarded paper wins a scholarship** of USD300 in cash. The scholarships will be awarded only for when full paper accepted and registration fee paid.

About top 20% of high-quality papers from the conference proceedings will be invited for the accelerated review process, which is a second round of blind peer review process conducted by reviewers of the related journal editorial board, for possible publication in one of the following journals:

** Scholarship Awards:

To be eligible for the scholarship of USD300, the following requirements must meet:

1) Submit a conference registration form and a proof of registration fee paid,

2) Submit a full paper in English following the APA style format, for further information, access to Submission Instructions

3) Submit a brief CV of each author, including the details of work affiliation and recent three year publications,

to the conference email kodisajournals@gmail.com and the conference chair jwlee119@bu.edu no later than April 30, 2014. Any application afterwards will not be honored.

REGISTRATION

The due date for conference registration and full paper submission is April 30, 2014.

The registration fee is US$450 per person. Full-time student registration fee is US$350 with a proper student ID. To register, complete the attached registration form and submit it to the conference email at kodisajournals@gmail.com.

•          Once papers have been accepted and included in the conference program or a delegate’s name has been listed in the program, registration fees are non-refundable; however, a substitution may be made for attendance instead in an emergency. Absolutely no refunds will be granted for non-attendance at the conference.

The conference venue is Seoul National University Hoam Faculty House in Seoul, South Korea.

With its excellent location, it is just a short distance from the city center and close to most of the city amenities. Conference delegates can choose any hotel close to the conference venue.

IMPORTANT DATES AND INSTRUCTIONS

All submissions are to be handled electronically through the conference email kodisajournals@gmail.com.

    Full papers and work-in-progress papers should be submitted to the conference email kodisajournals@gmail.com no later than April 30, 2014 in the APA style format outlined in the Call for Papers.
    Scholarship Award applications must be submitted to the conference chair jwlee119@bu.edu no later than April 30, 2014. There will be a scholarship award ceremony on the conference-opening day.
    Doctoral research symposium proposals must be submitted to the conference chair jwlee119@bu.edu no later than April 30, 2014. There will be a doctoral research symposium during the conference period.
    Registration fee must be received no later than April 30, 2014. The registration fee includes the conference concurrent sessions, conference receptions, all coffee breaks, and a hard copy of the conference proceedings.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION

 All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:

•          If you wish to have your paper published in the refereed conference proceedings, submit an electronic copy of your complete manuscript, not exceeding 30 pages, double-spaced, to the conference email kodisajournals@gmail.com before April 30, 2014. Papers will be reviewed, and final decisions will be communicated no later than May 30, 2013. Revisions may be expected. Final manuscripts, in the required format with changes consistent with requested revisions, must be received by May 30, 2014 at the latest. If submitted late or publication guidelines are not followed, it will not be included in the conference proceedings.

•          Manuscript submissions should include a separate title page (listing all authors, their affiliations, addresses, telephone/fax numbers and e-mail addresses) and a manuscript (including title, abstract, JEL codes, main text, references). For papers with multiple authors, indicate the author with whom we should correspond.  All papers will be subjected to the blind peer review process. They will be judged primarily on the basis of original contribution to scholarship, overall quality, and interest to the conference. Reviewers' comments will be provided to authors when notified of the Program Committee’s decisions. The final manuscript published in the conference proceedings may not exceed 10 pages in A4 size, single-spaced, including tables, figures, and references. All of the references cited in the body of the paper must be presented at references. Manuscripts that do not conform to the publication guidelines will not be published.

•          Each registered author is entitled to have a maximum of three accepted manuscripts included in the conference proceedings and/or program.

•          Complete the conference registration form and send it by email to the conference email kodisajournals@gmail.com before April 30, 2014. If your paper is not accepted either for presentation in the conference or publication in the conference proceedings, your registration fee will not be charged. At least one author must commit to attending the conference. In the case of multiple author attendance, all authors must register and pay the conference registration fees, and there is no exception to this rule.

•          Whether attending partially or in full, all conference attendees must pay the registration fees in full. At least one author must have paid the registration fees or made appropriate arrangements by April 30, 2014 at the latest, otherwise the paper will not be published in the proceedings nor included in the conference program. An official receipt for the conference registration fee will be provided on the first day of the conference. Please do not request receipts in advance of the conference, as we do not have the facilities to meet such demands.

•          Korea Distribution Science Association (KODISA) is a not-for-profit organization. As such, it does not provide any funding for travel, accommodation, or conference attendance. Such requests will not be responded to. The Association can only provide visa support letters to those individuals whose papers are accepted and included in the conference program. All other requests will not be accepted.
